The Faculty Teaching Awards are based on peer review and assessment of good teaching, with input from the student body. The awards are based on national criteria for excellence in teaching used by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council.
Between 1991 and 2006 the University and Guild of Undergraduates had joint oversight of the University's Excellence in Teaching Awards. From 2007 teaching awards have been embedded in the faculties.
Winners of Faculty Teaching Awards may be nominated for consideration by the University for ALTC awards and for the UWA Excellence in Teaching Awards.
The procedures for nominating have been developed by each faculty.
To be considered for nomination to the Australian Learning and Teaching Council awards, faculties are requested to follow the appropriate process when submitting their nominations to the UWA ALTC Selection Committee.
