Quality assurance

As a result of the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) audit report of 2009, the University has received national recognition and commendation for a number of achievements.

Commendations summary

AUQA commended UWA for: 

  1. creation of a shared vision of the University’s short‐term top‐100 goal and in the long‐term to be in the world’s top‐50 universities
  2. Vice‐Chancellor's widely acknowledged open door policy, support for staff and students and relationship with the broader community
  3. wide and successful consultation process leading up to the future introduction of new course structures
  4. consistent way of gathering a wide range of data for planning and accountability purposes
  5. range and success of its various transition, flexible entry and pathway programs
  6. mandatory use of an online module to familiarise all students with issues of academic integrity
  7. overall management of postgraduate and higher degree by research students that contributes to a positive student experience
  8. improvements that have taken place in teaching performance during the past five years
  9. range of programs and workshops, including the Teaching Month project, offered by the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning
  10. induction processes for new staff on the Crawley campus and the availability of mentoring for staff
  11. support for the UWA Student Guild and extent of engaging the Guild and commends the Student Guild for its successful operation
  12. approach of the Library to providing targeted services and support to staff and students at discipline level
  13. achieving strong support for students by UWA’s partners in offshore programs
  14. enhancing the student experience through well-supported inward and outward exchange programs.
