As a result of the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) audit report of 2009, the University has received national recognition and commendation for a number of achievements.
Commendations summary
AUQA commended UWA for:
- creation of a shared vision of the University’s short‐term top‐100 goal and in the long‐term to be in the world’s top‐50 universities
- Vice‐Chancellor's widely acknowledged open door policy, support for staff and students and relationship with the broader community
- wide and successful consultation process leading up to the future introduction of new course structures
- consistent way of gathering a wide range of data for planning and accountability purposes
- range and success of its various transition, flexible entry and pathway programs
- mandatory use of an online module to familiarise all students with issues of academic integrity
- overall management of postgraduate and higher degree by research students that contributes to a positive student experience
- improvements that have taken place in teaching performance during the past five years
- range of programs and workshops, including the Teaching Month project, offered by the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning
- induction processes for new staff on the Crawley campus and the availability of mentoring for staff
- support for the UWA Student Guild and extent of engaging the Guild and commends the Student Guild for its successful operation
- approach of the Library to providing targeted services and support to staff and students at discipline level
- achieving strong support for students by UWA’s partners in offshore programs
- enhancing the student experience through well-supported inward and outward exchange programs.
